This essay presents the use of mobile methods to assess the person-environment relationship, which extrapolates the static or structural analysis of this relationship. We present procedures that capture the wealth of information individuals report while passing through different environments where the person-environment relationships occur. Mobile methods allow one to understand the movement of people in their daily activities, combining two procedures: (a) observing behavior and the environment where the behavior occurs and (b) interviewing the participant about the perceptions of stimuli present in the environment. Pointing out advantages and disadvantages, we present two types of mobile interviews: (a) those where participants are familiar with the area and they determine the route and (b) those where the interviewer is familiar with the area, the route is more structured and designed to elicit responses to specific and predetermined places or objects.
