The role of palliative care in healthcare

This is a review of the ‘Manual of Palliative Care, 2nd edition’, a product of the ‘Palliative Care in the SUS’ project, a partnership between the Ministry of Health, the National Council of Health Secretaries, and the Sírio-Libanês Hospital. Comprehensive, detailed, and consistent with best practices in the field, the publication is an important resource for disseminating updated content on topics ranging from the history of palliative care in the country to symptom control to the end-of-life phase. We analyzed it to identify not only its strengths but also possible elements that require a more detailed approach.
