Abstract

This study aimed to elucidate the many factors that influence the success of autotransplanted teeth. To this end, it was necessary to identify the reason for early molar tooth loss in young people, describe how autogenous tooth transplantation can restore masticatory function and list the advantages that the tooth transplantation technique offers young patients. A literature review was carried out using the BVS, PubMed, and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) databases. The research included articles published within the last 10 years. The publications were pre-selected based on their titles and the reading of the available abstracts, so publications in English were included. In the end, 23 articles were selected to make up this review. The importance of autogenous tooth transplantation in the oral health of young people is unanimous among the authors, providing the patient with harmony in the arch and improved masticatory capacity with a biological tooth, in an economical manner. This therapeutic approach allows for the revascularization of the donor tooth in the new socket. However, some requirements must be followed to achieve treatment success.
